Simple and Compound Sentences 1
A simple sentence is a sentence that has one subject part.
Example: We bought tickets to the hockey game.
A compound sentence is a sentence that contains two or more simple sentences joined by and, or, or but.
Example: Hockey players are careful but they still get hurt often.
Instructions:
1. Go to Skill wise Game ‘Is this a compound sentence?’ http://www.bbc.co.uk/skillswise/english/games?page=1
2. Play the game with no timer as an option. If you get one wrong, read the explanation as to why.
3. Attempt this activity three times to experience a range of questions.
4. Your teacher will be asking you a range of questions on compound and simple sentences.
5. Record your results on 'appendix_8ta_b_interactive' page 2.
