WORD FLYERS
Word Flyers is a web 2 tool that provides you with the opportunity to learn and practise essential literacy skills in the areas of vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, reading, comprehension, writing and grammar. Learning takes place in context with over 300 word texts and caters for a range of ability levels within units spanning 12 levels. Each lesson and unit of work contains narrated and onscreen tutorials and texts to motivate and encourage students.

Instructions:
1. Go to http://wordflyers.com.au and click on student (top right corner)
2. Type in your allocated email address and password.
3. Make sure you are in the LEARN TAB and select your grade EG: YEAR 8
4. The activities are broken into levels (1-3). You will start on level 1 and be able to move up based on your performance. Click on your level.
5. The teacher will instruct you what text to select.
6. A text will appear, this will relate to many of the accompanying activities that are to follow. You have the option of having it read to you (click on the play button top left hand corner) or reading it yourself. Only choose the narrated option if you have your own ear phones.
7. On completion of reading the task, click on the x (top right corner) to exit out.
8. Select the activities as listed on the RTHS Literacy lesson website.
Activities include:
- Vocabulary - Spelling
- Punctuation - Writing
- Reading and Comprehension - Grammar
- Naplan Language Conventions - Naplan Reading
9. Read or listen to the tutorial.
10. Using the tutorial and text, answer the questions.
As you complete an activity your points will accumulate, which enables you to travel to different exotic destinations and unlock a variety of games.
