Exposition
EXPOSITION PURPOSE:
An exposition attempts to persuade the reader to believe something by presenting one side of the argument.
STRUCTURE:
The three parts of a recount are:
- An introductory statement (introduction) that presents the writers point of view and previews the arguments to be presented.
- A series of arguments that aim to persuade the reader – new paragraph for each new argument. A topic sentence introduces the new argument.
- A conclusion sums up arguments and reinforces writer’s point of view.
Examples: Ads, editorials, legal defense
